When one door closes, another opens. It can be intimidating to try something new and start over. But life experiences stay with you and guide you into new chapters. You just have to be willing to take a chance, believe in yourself, and give it everything you’ve got.

I'd just returned to work at Verizon after maternity leave when they said, "We have great news, we're relocating you to Massachusetts!" With my family roots deeply planted in West Virginia, it was the natural place for my husband and me to build our own life, raising our three-year-old, Trinity, and newborn, Azaria. After 18 years I never saw it coming. Relocation was never an option. I thought to myself: now what? My husband didn't miss a beat. "Denise," he said, "you've always been interested in real estate." He encouraged me to take the leap and get my license.

Growing up, I was very shy and kept to myself. That started to shift when I was 25 and signed up for a Dale Carnegie course called "How to Win Friends and Influence People." I thought it was about making friends. It was actually a 12-week public speaking course. I was terrified, but I did it anyway. I learned a lot and gained some confidence. Working in management and training at Verizon also built that up. Over those 18 years, I learned how to walk into a room, earn trust, listen, read people, and explain things in a way that is easy to understand.
Early on I was drawn to motivational speakers, several of whom were big believers in real estate as a path to financial independence. That idea took root. I bought my first home at 24 and eventually built a portfolio of 13 rental properties. I experienced the good side of investing but also felt some of the hardship that came with the 2008 crash. It made me more cautious with investments, but I still believed in the value of homeownership and its financial security.

Still, nothing fully prepared me for that first year as an agent. It seems easy when you are on the other side of it, but that just means you have a good agent. There is so much going on behind the scenes. I went from a steady paycheck to commission-based work, learning a whole new language of contracts, timelines, and legal nuances, all while having a newborn. It was hard. There were moments I wasn't sure I'd made the right call. But I kept going and committed to giving it my best shot that first year.
Ten years later, I can't imagine doing anything else! Walking alongside someone through one of the biggest decisions of their life and helping them achieve something they've worked so hard for, how could that not be rewarding? I love educating my clients and helping them weigh their options, serving as a true partner and advocate. Most of my business comes from repeat clients and referrals, and that kind of trust is something I never take for granted.

My faith is a huge part of my life and impacts everything about how I do business. It guides my core values: honesty, integrity, and treating every person with real care and respect. I never pressure or rush my clients, because my focus is on doing right by people, not closing deals. And I've found that when you put others first, it always comes back to you.
Real estate not only gave me a fulfilling career but has also given me more balance to really enjoy time with my family. We love hiking, biking, staying involved in our church community, and taking the girls on fun trips to create memories together. We also have three cats and two dogs, all rescues—it's a full house, but we love it!
I've learned that sometimes life puts an opportunity in front of you that you never would have chosen for yourself. It's scary, and it's hard, and there's no guarantee it works out. But if you have the courage to walk through that door anyway, it just might change everything!
When you work with me, you're not just getting someone to open doors and fill out paperwork. You're getting a trusted guide who will be with you every step of the way from our first conversation to the closing table. I specialize in residential real estate, with a soft spot for first-time buyers knowing just how important that initial investment is. No matter who I am working with, I walk with you through every step, explaining your options, pointing out concerns, and taking proactive steps to avoid unnecessary problems down the road.
To put it simply: I'm accessible, I'm responsive, and I genuinely care about your outcome. I keep my phone with me and I get back to you quickly, because I know how stressful this process can be and I never want you to feel like you're in the dark. I'll be honest with you, even when it's not what you want to hear, because my goal is to get you the right home, not just any home. My goal is to be a trusted advisor you can count on long after the transaction is over!
Sincerely,
